Compact:

Accessed from the File...Database Utilities menu, compacting your data is recommended monthly. When data is deleted, it leaves spaces in the data file causing the data engine to work harder to find and display your data. Maintaining a healthier and more optimized/efficient database is accomplished by compacting regularly. Compacting will also reduce file size, saving hard disk space. Compacting is performed prior to backing up; therefore if you backup your data monthly, the data is already being compacted.

Logbook Pro offers an automated maintenance system that will prompt the user at program exit with the option to compact. The maintenance system will appear every 30 days unless configured otherwise. Read the Backup Options documentation to learn about the settings or view the Maintenance Dialog description.

Repair:

If directed to do so by Tech Support, or experiencing erroneous error messages or poor data performance, run the Repair routine from the File...Database Utilities menu. Repairing attempts to repair simple data structure issues and optimizes the data for efficient use. In the event of errors, please contact Tech Support immediately at support@nc-software.com; and if necessary, e-mail a backup of your data file (File...Archive...Backup).
